Dybów Castle, located on the left bank of the Vistula River in Toruń, is being beautifully restored and reclaiming its rightful place on the city’s cultural heritage map thanks to ongoing renovation and modernization efforts.
As part of the revitalization work, illegal graffiti has been removed, and the greenery both within the castle grounds and in its immediate surroundings has been carefully maintained. Specialized wall cleaning was carried out using laser technology, which allowed for the effective removal of pollutants without damaging the castle’s historic structure. Additionally, a surveillance system has been installed on the premises, and the monument is now continuously monitored by the City Guard, thereby increasing the safety of the site and its visitors.
The rich natural environment surrounding the castle has also been taken into account. Ornithological and chiropterological surveys were conducted to protect the populations of birds and bats inhabiting the site. Modern technological solutions were employed as well — thanks to detailed scanning and spatial measurements, a three-dimensional model of Dybów Castle was created. This digital documentation will serve as a foundation for future projects of various kinds, including conservation, educational, promotional, and many others.
Current work focuses on preparing a roof for the gate tower and installing bicycle racks. These actions aim to enhance the functionality of the space and adapt it to the needs of users during the attractive spring and summer tourist season.
All undertaken efforts are intended not only to protect this valuable historical heritage but also to actively integrate Dybów Castle into the cultural life of Toruń.
